Where should I store files for the whole organisation?¶
Files to be accessed for all should be stored in a Hub Site in SharePoint, connected with your main Intranet or Digital Workplace Landing page.
Where should I store files for me?¶
Files just for you should be in OneDrive for Business where they can be backed up and have version control.
Where should I store files for my team or the team I am working with ?¶
Making the most out of Microsoft Teams and it's abilities with files, store files in a channel.
Where should I store files for a few select people?¶
Files for a few select people can go in OneDrive for Business where they can be shared for a while before publishing to SharePoint.
Where should I store files for a few external people that I am not in a Team with?¶
If the people who you are collaborating with do not have a common purpose that could be served by a Team then OneDrive for Business works well.
Should others be able to edit a file?¶
- Yes - OneDrive for Business or a Channel within Microsoft Teams
- No - Intranet or a library within SharePoint with locked down permissions
